Use Coolant
Coolant is a green or yellow liquid that prevents car radiators from overheating in the summer and from freezing in the winter. The liquid is poured into the radiator, and then the coolant mixes with the water already in the radiator. Antifreeze is made from triethylene glycol (TEG) or propylene glycol.
If the water in the radiator becomes too hot, your car will overheat. To prevent this, the coolant will change the temperature of the water down to a normal level. The same thing goes for winter. If the water in the radiator gets too cold, the coolant will warm the water up until it is at the right temperature. For these reasons, you should make sure your car has antifreeze throughout the year.
Coolant is toxic, so make sure you clean any that may get on the ground and keep it stored away from pets and children. Children and pets drink it easily because there is no odor and because the green or yellow color makes the liquid look and taste like a fruit drink.
Protect Windshield
Your car's windshield takes a beating during the winter when it has piles of snow on it or becomes coated with ice. When this happens, you have to spend time getting the snow off and then scraping off the ice. Your car's wiper blades also take a beating during the winter, especially when it comes to built up snow. Turning the windshield wipers on with a lot of snow on the windshield can damage the wipers.
One way to prevent problems with wiper blades is to install heated wiper blades. These blades can cut through snow and ice very quickly.
You can also install a windshield washer heater. This is a liquid that is poured into the reservoir that holds your windshield cleaning fluid. When the washer heater is poured in, the cleaning fluid heats up so when you wash your windshield, this heat melts ice and snow.
The best way to prevent damage to your windshield is to purchase a windshield snow cover. They come in a variety of sizes to fit any windshield. Windshield covers are also easy to place on your car, and most of them roll up when you are finished using the cover. This allows for easy storage.
